After releasing HCL ME V1 and Y3 Android tablets in the Indian market, HCL has moved further and launched the third sibling of the trio, HCL ME U2, today for Rs. 5,999, which is a very reasonable price as per the prevailing competition in the market. This Android-based tablet is now available throughout the country. The company held a press conference today in the capital of the country, New Delhi, where it announced the launch of this budgeted tablet. Out of the trio, ME U2 is the lowest priced Android tablet, as the other two tabs, ME V1 and Y3, are tagged for around Rs. 8000 and Rs. 12,000, respectively. The low-cost segment for tablets is facing neck-in-neck competition from the players like Acer, Micromax, Amazon, etc. and even Samsung has also entered into this arena with reasonably price tablets. Last month only, Acer launched Acer Iconia B1 Tab for Rs. 8,000 and has even planned to launch more quad-core processor based tablets soon in the market. Noticing all this, it would be difficult to say which manufacturer will rule the market.

Till date, HCL has launched all its models with a Cortex A8 1GHz processor and a storage capacity of 512MB. Based on Google’s latest Android OS, the ICS tablet Y2 is also said to have the same processor with 512MB RAM.
