One of the most reputed newspapers of South Korea, Korea Economic Daily has reported over 9 million pre-orders from 100 carriers throughout the world for Samsung Galaxy S III. The source for this information are said to be a Samsung official who prefers anonymity regarding his/her identity. Now, no matter what the parameters are in terms of competition, or being at the right place at the right time, the statistics are pretty impressive. It was not very far fetched to bet on the device to be a success in the market and most people did bet on the same but these numbers are far beyond what one would have imagined in the first place before and during its launch.
It took ten months for 20 million Samsung Galaxy S II to be shipped throughout the globe while the Samsung Galaxy S III has taken barely two weeks to reach half of that figure. One also needs to keep in mind that these are not number of shipped devices but pre-ordered units which is equivalent to actual sales figures.
So far the rub of the green has gone Samsung's way and may continue in that manner for some time to come. But this may not auger well for their competitors including LG and HTC. For Apple though, who are their strongest rivals, the stats still show that with iPhone 4S, they are ahead in terms of preordered sales, but they know that they can not relax because if they do, it won't be too long before Samsung overtakes them too.
