Nokia India has 54.1 percent stake in the market

Nokia India has stake 54.1 percent in the market. The company has sold over 100 million mobile phone in 2009, according to a research firm IDC India. On the other hand,
LG has 6.4 percent and
Samsung mobiles has 9.7 percent share in the Indian market. Other local player's total stake is approx 17.5 percent including
Karbonn Mobiles,
Micromax,
Spice Mobiles Ltd,
Videocon Industries Ltd and
Lava International Ltd. According to the ongoing IPL cricket tournament, these mobile companies has given ads for branding their respective latest
mobiles in India. In 2009, more than 28 new handset brands started selling and shared over 12.3 percent of handset sales which is quite noticeable. As per some website reports;
Nokia has decreased 2 percent market share during this period, Other mobile brands also lost their shares such as
Samsung with 0.2 percent and
LG has with 0.8 percent in terms of market share due to increase in sales of these local players, but now Government had made compulsory to have IMEI number in all type of mobile phones. The customers are now moving towards branded phones rather than china mobile, which were illegally sold and purchased in the country.
