The newly publicized Nokia Lumia 520, which is the cheapest Windows Phone 8 smartphone, has been made available with Indian retailers from today onwards at a price tag of Rs, 10,499. Nokia is escalating in India via two of its most popular smartphone series – Lumia Smartphones and Asha candybar lineup. The company officially launched Lumia 520 last month, which after a week of the launch went up for pre-orders on the official site of Nokia. This newest addition to Lumia family was announced alongside Lumia 720, which is a high-end smartphone, whereas Lumia 520 is targeted over mid-end consumer base.
Nokia Lumia 520 shows a usual 4-inch display with a picture resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and the screen comes sheltered with 2D hardened glass. The handset is controlled by a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227 processor that is incorporated with 512MB RAM for unblemished routine tasks. The connectivity front is well embellished with 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS / aGPS. A high quality 5-megapixels auto-focus camera with HD video recording appears at the back.
For storage requirements, 8GB of integrated memory seems pretty good and for additional storeroom user can avail the benefit of a microSD card that supports up to 64GB of external memory expansion. For uninterrupted talking, Nokia has provided an impressive Li-Ion 1430mAh battery that offers a talk time of up to 9.6 hours and a standby time of up to 360 hours.
Last month, at the launch event, Nokia announced that the phone will come with 1GB of free 3G data per month for the initial 2 months, but only for Reliance GSM service users, and now the company has also included an unlimited access to Facebook and Whatsapp for two months. Also, Nokia Lumia 520 comes pre-loaded with Big Flix app that claims to offer 3 months of free movie streaming. As the Lumia series is known for their colourful shells, similarly, Lumia 530 comes in red, cyan, white, yellow and black color variants along with an option of changeable shells.
