The much awaited, entry-level Xperia series smartphones, Sony Xperia E and Xperia E dual are finally up for sale via online retailers in India. Both the smartphones were announced back in December and users have to spend INR 9,990 for Xperia E and INR 10,990 for Xperia E Dual smartphone. Both the handsets pack similar spec-sheet, except the fact that Xperia E Dual has Dual SIM feature that allows user to use two different GSM connections.
These two models follow the same pattern of display and physical feature. The screen size measures 3.5-inch diagonally with TFT capacitive touch display that offers 480 x 320 pixels of resolution. The extremely well designed phones weigh around 115.7 grams and thickness comes at 11mm. It is neither light in weight nor heavy so one can easily carry these droids for long hours. The difference between Xperia E and Xperia E Dual lies in the version of operating system.
Sony Xperia E runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean while its twin Xperia E Dual operates on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, though Sony has promised its Xperia E Dual users for an OS upgrade to 4.1 Jelly Bean. Both the models are loaded with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7227A processor in combination with 512 MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory, out of which 2GB could be used by the user for usual storage needs. Also, the external memory could be expanded up to 32GB with the help of a microSD slot.
Both the models are loaded with a rear camera of 3.2MP that captures images with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. On connectivity front, these handsets offer Internet through Wi-Fi and 3G networks. Other key features of these affordable handsets include FM radio, HD voice and 3D surround sound speakers. With the launch of these two low-cost smartphones, Sony is looking forward to get appreciated by the middle segment of customers and is expecting the same success as received from its recently launched flagship smartphone, Sony Xperia Z.
