After introducing Xperia Z smartphone in India few days back, Sony recently announced the availability of Xperia Tablet Z that would commence from the month of May 2013. The 10.1-inch tablet was first showcased in Japan following the CES tech event and has recently touched ground in the US after being officially announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013. Sony Xperia Z tablet can be recognised as one of the slimmest tablet around, at 6.9mm thickness and 495 grams of weight. Following the design tricks from its smartphone cousin, the device is suppressed in a water-proof, rust-proof and dust-proof casing. The OmniBalance design makes the gadget quite easy and comfortable to hold. With its artistic designs and momentous spec-sheet, the gadget will stand against many high-end tablet PCs from renowned OEMs.
On technical front, Xperia Tablet Z sports a luxurious 10.1-inch screen that holds full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. You can experience life-like image quality and finer visual clarity while watching videos or playing games. Operated by a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor in a row with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) OS, the tablet is a sole story about wonderful features that would enchant the users with its power-pack performance. The processor is supported by 2GB of RAM and for storage needs, it is outfitted with 32GB of internal memory, while the external memory can be lengthened via a microSD card. Xperia Tablet Z supports NFC, LTE, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and HDMI via MHL as the connectivity options. Interestingly, the infrared port can be paired with the TV SideView appllication to enable Xperia Tablet Z to be used as a remote control.
An 8-megapixel rear camera that comes with Exmor R sensor can shoot full HD videos, while the front-facing snapper has 2 megapixels sensor, which is capable to record 720p videos. Furthermore, a worth-mentioning feature came in a form of powerful battery backup that is provided by a 6,000mAh battery. The audio frontage is equipped with few prominent sound technologies S-Force Front Surround 3D, Clear Audio+ mode along with two in-built speakers for superior audio output. The Tablet will be available in black and white colour variant, most probably from the month of May.
Apart from the upcoming launches, Sony is also updating its music service for the existing and newly launched Xperia smartphones. Sony Music just announced a new music streaming and download service, called Jive that will offer a heap of around 2 million songs. It allows free streaming and downloading of songs but the facility is restricted for selected Xperia series models only.
