ZTE India and arm of China based ZTE Corporation is all set to launch a mobile phone manufacturing facility in Chennai, India. The company has good market share in telecom components market, it provides components to Indian mobile manufacturer and telecom service provider firms such as R-Com, Tata DoCoMo, BSNL, Etisalat and Loop Telecom. As per new telecom policy 2011, it every telecom company will have to source local components at a certain percentage.
At present, ZTE India has facility at Manesar Haryana and providing repairing, maintenance and logistics services while it imports equipments and mobile phones from China. As per reports the demand for telecom equipments is Rs 50,000 crore, including imports and domestic production. But this equipment requirement will be more than Rs 3,50,000 crore by 2015. And the Chinese firm wants to grab this sector.
ZTE is providing basic mobile phones and Android OS based smartphone and Tablets. It has launched TE Netphone 501, ZTE Netphone 701, ZTE Libra, ZTE Skate, ZTE Amigo smartphones and ZTE V9 and ZTE V9 Plus tablets at Mobile World Congress 2011. Now the company is planning to spread its wings in US market and announced an Android based smartphone and a 10 inches tablet for that market. This new upcoming smartphone and 10 inches tablet will compete with Motorola Atrix and Motorola Xoom which are world’s most powerful smartphone and tablet, respectively.
Currently, this firm is providing 2G telecom equipments to the Indian firms and now ready for supplying 3G components to India's 3G network holders like Vodafone Essar, Bharti Airtel, Tata DoCoMo, Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular and Aircel.
Later this year, ZTE India is mulling over to launch wireless broadband services using the TD-LTE technology which might be used in upcoming commercial broadband services of Reliance Industries by the end of this year.
