  • The feature will be called 'Delete for Everyone'
  • Messages will be able to recalled within five minutes of sending
  • Messages read by the receiver will not be recalled

Almost all the WhatsApp users have gone through the embarrassment of sending an inappropriate message to someone. To prevent this fiasco, WhatsApp will soon introduce the “Delete For Everyone” feature allowing users to ‘unsend’ a wrong message. The company is reportedly working on such a feature which is expected to roll out for both the Android and iOS soon.

According to a tweet from fan site WaBetaInfo, WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature which will allow users to recall a message within five minutes of sending it. The Delete for Everyone feature will work for text, images, videos, gifs and documents. However, the messages that have not been read by the receiver will be deleted.

“Delete for everyone feature: WhatsApp is finally testing the Delete for Everyone feature: the server finally works and it successfully recalls the message. Also if the server works, this does not mean that the feature is currently enabled. It will be remotely enabled later and seen that WhatsApp “enabled” their servers for the Delete for Everyone feature, it may really be enabled soon,” read the tweet.

The WaBetaInfo earlier reported that the social media giant is working on a recall button and that it will be available in on app versions above 2.17.30. Now that the 2.17.30 version is already rolling out, we may see the new ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature in the next update.

With the recent update, users can also post text-only stories on their status as well. You can also select from various fonts, font colours, backgrounds and other feature to make it even more interesting. It also confirmed that it is going to release ‘WhatsApp for Business’ soon that will enable the business to connect with people directly. The programme is under testing through a closed pilot programme with 1mg and BookMyShow.

There are also reports that the WhatsApp logo that used to appear on top left while in a WhatsApp call will now be replaced with phone icon.
