Xiaomi recently introduced their latest flagship smartphone, the Mi 6 in April 2017 and it has still not entered the globe market entirely. Although, it is too early to talk about another flagship release from Xiaomi, there are rumors floating around the internet about the upcoming Mi 7.

According to a report from a South Korean publication, Xiaomi has tied up with Samsung and is sourcing millions of 6.01” OLED panels which will be used either in Mi 7 or Mi Note 3. The shipments are expected to move by the end of December this year. The report also says that Xiaomi is planning to source the panels in two lots. The first lot will have around 1 million panels and will be shipped by January 2018.The second batch will have around 2.2 million panels and will be moved in the consecutive month.

Samsung is a leading manufacturer of OLED displays and not only Xiaomi, but even Apple is said to have made a similar deal with Samsung for its displays. The Asian publication Nikkei reported that Apple has placed an order to Samsung for 70 million OLED displays.

The report also mentioned that at first Xiaomi was going for a 5.49” flexible OLED display from LG. However, due to a delay in setting up LG’s plant and starting their production the deal could not proceed further.

According to a post on Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It is also expected to have an 8GB RAM and a dual back camera with telephoto lens. Xiaomi is predicted to go for a ceramic housing for its next smartphone.
