  • Google is testing their screenshot preview on Play Store
  • Banner Previews of app and games would be made available to users
  • Google is likely to expand the Banner preview option for movies and Tv shows

Lately, people have started to experience a new change in Google Play, where they get video and screenshot previews for certain apps. It is not clear whether this occurrence is part of a beta update for the Play store or is it the first step in making a more user-friendly experience throughout the platform, which means making the Banner preview option available for Movies and TV shows as well.

Google

A certain Reddit User by the name of Kennett-Ny, in a post dated four days ago, was among the first to acknowledge this change and made videos available on youtube showcasing what these video and screenshot previews would look like, according to him this has been a very recent update on Google Play and made available only for very specific apps.

About the details of the previews and their working, when a viewer scrolls over an app, he would get the option of having a little preview of what the app is going to be, by seeing the small video that would be played automatically.

For rolling out these changes on Play Store on a larger and broader scale, Google would have to have these previews for other types of content, such as movies or TV shows, as uses might be able to scroll over these banner previews and tap the play button to view the trailer just like the app or game video previews.

At this point, there is no saying about when Google would be expanding their reach in these terms, but it is intact that even though this is relatively a minor change, users might find it to be appealing given the fact that they can find out everything about an app without going through the trouble of downloading it within a matter of few seconds!
