The budget smartphone market in India is on fire since the launch of JioPhone by telecom giant, Reliance. Airtel, Vodafone and BSNL recently launched cheap 4G phones recently but Airtel is not ready to give up just yet. Airtel has launched two new phone under its ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ – Karbonn A40 Indian and Karbonn A41 Power. Airtel also launched the Smart 4G Android phone last month. To recall, Vodafone launched Bharat-2 Ultra in partnership with Micromax and BSNL launched the Bharat-1 4G in partnership with Micromax.

Karbonn A1 Indian

Raj Pudipeddi, Director, Consumer Business and CMO, Bharti Airtel while announcing the phone said, “We are delighted to deepen our partnership with Karbonn to fulfill the smartphone aspirations of India. We saw very strong demand for our first offer under the ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative, which validates the broad appeal of this innovative proposition. We are also delighted to have Amazon on board as a partner in this exciting journey and look forward to working closely with them.”

Pardeep Jain, MD, Karbonn Mobiles said, “We are delighted to partner with Airtel. The immense response that we got for us our offer with Airtel helped us add 70 percent new feature phone users to our existing portfolio.”

The Karbonn A1 Indian and A41 Power has been made available at an effective price of Rs 1,799 and Rs 1,849. The company said that both the phone will come with a price tag of Rs 4,390 and Rs 4,290 respectively.

Customers the will have to make a payment of Rs 3,299 at the time of purchasing the Karbonn A1 Indian and Rs 3,349 for Karbonn A41 Power. The company will then provide a cashback of Rs 1,500 after 36 months. But there is a catch, Airtel confirms that users will have to recharge the phone 36 continuous monthly recharges with a minimum amount of Rs 169 to avail the cashback. After which, company will provide a cash refund of 18 months and another Rs 1,000 after 36 months, totalling the amount to 1,500.

The company has given another offer under which users will have to recharge both the phones of any denominations and validity as per requirement, but totalling Rs 3000 within the first 18 months enabling them to get the first installment of the cash refund of Rs 500. Another Rs 3000 recharge is to be done over the next 18 months to get the second installment of the cash refund of Rs 1,000.

Airtel also claimed, “The ownership of the smartphone is completely with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel/Karbonn at any point to claim the cash benefit.”, taking a dig at JioPhone.

The telecom giant confirmed that the both the phone will be made available via Amazon India with sale starting next week. The earlier launched Karbonn A40 Indian is now available on Amazon India.

Karbonn A1 Indian and A41 Power Specifications

The Karbonn A1 India and A41 Power have similar 4-inch tall WVGA display and pack 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage. Karbonn A1 India is powered by 1.1GHz quad-ca 1.3GHz core processor. Both the devices run on Android 7.0 Nougat coe with dual SIM, 4G and VoLTE support. On camera front, the Karbonn A1 Indian sports a 3.2MP camera sensor on the rear and 2MP sensor on the front while Karbonn A41 Power sports a 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP sensor on the front.
