  • New renders of Oppo foldable smartphone sketch leaked

  • The device may come with a vertically arranged dual camera

This year seems to be more about foldable smartphones, as many tech giants are planning to unveil foldable devices such as Samsung, Xiaomi, Apple, Huawei, LG, etc. Interestingly, ZTE Axon M is already getting promoted as a foldable handset, but this device doesn’t carry one display with a flexible screen. Now, Oppo has patented its own foldable smartphone and the new renders of the foldable smartphone sketch making the rounds online have grabbed everyone’s attention. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has come up with a book like a device sketch that shows the smartphone having a single large display appears with no cuts in between.

It seems from the image as if the device comes with a one-sided curved display and can be folded inwards. When folded, the selfie camera sensors appear on the left side of the top bezel and on the right side of the top bezel one can find the earpiece. Strikingly, one might mark that one of the sides appears to be meant for making calls, whereas the other side for taking selfies. Apparently, there are two parts, with having a vertically arranged dual camera setup while the other cut-out as the same shape as the cameras, thereby allowing the camera to fit into the cutout when the device is folded.

Furthermore, it is quite clear from the other images that the overall body of the handset comes with a uniform thickness even when stretched fully. Undoubtedly, one cannot say all these things with certainty as these sketches are just patent filings and as of now, Oppo has made no official statements regarding the device. Nonetheless, one may expect good news from all corners with respect to the foldable handsets, but definitely, the technology will take time in getting perfect.
