Ahead of its scheduled August 24 date, the bookings for the much-awaited JioPhone have opened in several offline stores in some area. Several offline retailers in have already taking JioPhone bookings and here is how you can book on for yourself before anyone else does.

You need to submit a copy of your Aadhar card with the authorised retailer for booking the JioPhone. An individual can book only one unit per Aadhar number across the country, to avoid multiple bookings across the country by a single person. After submitting the Aadhar number, the details will be uploaded to the online KYC software that will assign you a token number, which is required to be provided while picking up the phone.

Price

In an event on July 21, Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that the JioPhone will be provided for free, with an upfront, refundable security deposit of Rs 1,500. This amount is not payable at the time of booking your unit, but, you need to the pay the amount at the time of picking up the unit assigned to you. The amount will be refunded after 36 months of payment, according to Reliance.

Delivery

The delivery of JioPhones for those who order now will be between September 1 and September 4. The Delivery date may be extended as per the number of bookings, so it is best to pre-order your device as soon as possible. The Company has claimed to deliver phones in the month of September without revealing any exact date, though. The Company also claims to deliver 5 million units a week to consumers.

JioPhone Specifications Recap

JioPhone will come with unlimited voice, data and texts, while consumers will have to get it recharged with a Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan monthly pack of Rs 153, which will provide free voice calls, texts and unlimited data (with a speed of 500MB per day) and free access to Jio apps for 28 days. The phone will also support JioPhone TV-Cable allowing users to connect their phone with any kind of television set. For connecting JioPhone to TV, users will have to recharge with a pack of Rs 309 per month.
